The purpose of this symposium is to provide relevant education to health care providers in the lung transplant field regarding research, best practices of peri-operative care, and treatment of potential complications throughout the transplant process.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify current practice guidelines in order to provide optimal care to patients undergoing lung transplant.

  • Identify current research initiatives at Duke surrounding the care of the lung transplant patient.

  • Identify and discuss risks associated with pre- and post-operative infections, current identification and treatment practices in the lung transplant patient.

  • Identify and discuss potential complications associated with immunosuppression, infection, rejection, and effective management in the lung transplant patient.
