Learning Objectives

  • Identify the types of surgical oncology interventions and the RN/APP’s role in caring for the oncology patient
  • Increase knowledge and understanding of the post-operative care of the surgical oncology patient
  • Identify possible post-operative complications patients may experience due to their surgery
  • Identify differences in types of surgical interventions for the oncology patient (i.e., neo-adjuvant, adjuvant and palliation) 
  • Increase knowledge and methods to identify and treat psychosocial concerns in the surgical oncology patient
  • Increase knowledge of survivorship care in surgical oncology patients
