IMPROVING ITEM WRITING PROFICIENCY: AN ITEM WRITING WORKSHOP FOR Pre - Licensure FACULTY

December 12, 2022

The purposes of the small group meetings will be to create and edit test items used by faculty teams in preparing exams used in the courses in which they teach. Time will be spent focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of faculty’s teacher-created questions and assessments, using the statistical item/test analysis data accrued and expert content review. Recommendations for using tools to enhance decision-making surrounding item maintenance and editing will be provided. A discussion of useful item analysis data accrued in the exam administration application, as well as analysis of results from prior teacher-created tests and standardized exam administrations, will be referenced as well, so that faculty can more effectively use aggregate reports to support their programs’ overall curricular and programmatic evaluation plan.
