Managing the Health of Your Patients with Cancer - Oncology Issues in Primary Care

This educational program is designed to promote interprofessional collaboration between oncology and primary care providers to promote optimal care of the patient with prostate cancer. Beginning with updates in screening and diagnosis and concluding with practical approaches to managing long term side effects of treatment, expert speakers will guide participants through the prostate cancer continuum. Using a multidisciplinary approach, advances in prostate cancer treatment will be discussed from the surgical, medical and radiation oncology fields.

Target Audience

This educational activity is designed for primary care providers, surgeons, urologists, oncologists, radiologists, pharmacists, pharmacy techs, advanced practice providers, nurses, and others who care for patients with cancer.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this program, participants will be able to: 

  • Compare the top two causes of cancer as a public health concern
  • Describe when incidental or informal findings in a patient workup warrant further evaluation Assess common side effects of cancer treatments
  • Discuss the evidence-based management of prostate cancer
