Racial and ethnic minorities experience higher rates of disease, disability, and death than do their white counterparts. With the growing racial and ethnic diversity of the population, addressing disparities in health has become a national priority.

 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this 16-session activity, learners should be able to:

  • Describe and apply skills to combat racial, ethnic, and cultural barriers to effective health care.
  • Cite, interpret, and critique existing health disparities research across the translational spectrum to inform practice, and identify gaps that need to be addressed in future research efforts.
  • Discuss and apply skills for incorporating health disparities research into research agendas.
