This workshop series highlights advances in the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease, including topics such as recently updated guidelines for lipid management, peripheral arterial disease screening and treatment, and contemporary outcomes in advanced heart failure. Throughout the course of the activity, participants will have the opportunity to discuss and debate optimal management approaches with a distinguished panel of Duke faculty experts and peers.

The Duke CE Portal will send a confirmation notice to your email address. Open this email message and click on the link in the email to confirm your profile set up.
The confirmation link will take you back to the Duke CE Portal where you will enter and confirm the password that you set up.  
Once you enter the password, scroll to the top of the page to see the "GREEN BANNER" that reads "The changes have been saved"
Keep a record of your ID/password. You will need to complete the certification process and login to the the Duke CE Portal at any time.
 

How to Register/Enroll Into a Course in ETHOS

In the upper right hand corner of the Ethos Home Page, type in the name of the course, Duke Medicine: Updates in the Prevention and Management of Cardiovascular Disease in the search bar.
Click on the web link which will then direct you to the course landing page.
Click on Take Course at the bottom of the page to complete the registration process.
Upon completion of registration, a confirmation email will be sent providing the course details.

Learning Objectives

(1) Review evidence that  supports contemporary guideline recommendations for individualized cholesterol treatment strategies and underscores that the “treat to target” paradigm is insufficient to prevent CHD

(2) Assess patient cardiovascular risk and individualize management strategies based on patient risk, shared decision making, and assessed benefits of treatment

(3) Identify factors that predict increased mortality risk among patients with advanced heart failure

(4)Describe clinical data for outcomes and supportive care needs associated with interventional approaches, including mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplant, for patients with chronic heart failure or cardiogenic shock

(5)Review risk criteria for peripheral artery disease

(6) Identify relevant factors to consider when determining the optimal treatment approach for patients with peripheral artery disease
