Pediatric Behavioral & Mental Health Assessment and Management

The workshop will instruct participants on the current prevalence of mental health disorders which commonly affect child and adolescents.  The assessment and management strategies necessary to care for these children and adolescents will be detailed including current guidelines.   Examples of mental health integration in primary care will be provided including:  scheduling, reimbursement and care coordination.

Learning Objectives

Describe the current status of behavioral/mental health disorder prevalence among children and adolescents in the United States.

Use appropriate assessment tools to formulate an accurate DSM-V diagnosis for children and adolescents with behavioral and mental health disorders.

Formulate evidence-based treatment proposals for children and adolescents with behavioral and mental health disorders, including initiation support of the family and specialty referrals.
