Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, the participants will be able to:

• Assess current evidence for best practice for the perioperative care of patients undergoing major surgery
• Appraise current best practice for the intravenous fluid therapy and hemodynamic management for patients undergoing major surgery
• Discuss the various elements of ERAS protocol and determine the physiologic rationalization of the ERAS strategy
• Ascertain the impact of ERAS protocol on improving patient outcomes and reducing costs.
