Evidence Based Medicine – A Workshop for Educators and Champions of Evidence-Based Medicine 2017

AAMChas established competencies that must be addressed in accredited training programs including teaching Evidence Based Medicine.  Many residency programs lack experienced teachers in this area. Specifically, in internal medicine, the ACGME program requirements include Medical informatics and decision-making skills. ACGME Program requirements include training to locate, appraise, and assimilate evidence from scientific studies related to their patients’ health.

Learning Objectives

Describe scientific evidence and methods to investigate evaluate, and improve patient-care practices.
Discuss critical assessment of medical literature, communication and interpretation of results, and in teaching clinical
Identify different sources of medical information, understand their relative strengths and weaknesses, and gauge their applicability to individual patients.
