As a result of attending this session attendees will describe the current epidemiology and presenting symptoms of patients with primary brain tumors, develop an understanding for basic treatment of brain tumors including the standard of care protocol and ongoing clinical trials at Duke Hospital, recognize common speech and language pathology considerations during treatment of primary brain tumor patients, compare and contrast the prevalence of dysphagia in brain tumor patients vs. stroke patients, and discuss end of life/palliative care speech issues in the brain tumor population.
