Diverse Pathways for Obesity: Ways to Support a Patient's Journey

November 14, 2025
  • As more and more of the population of the United States meets the criteria for obesity and new options for treatment develop, front-line providers are tasked more often with determining the best treatment option for and management of obesity. Continued cooperation and integration of all specialties or multidisciplinary treatment of obesity, has increased the value of care, improved the patient’s experience, and resulted in better outcomes. Diverse Pathways for Obesity: Ways to Support a Patient’s Journey will outline available treatment options including diet, psychology, medication, and surgical options. Providers will be given critical information on the effects relating to cardiology, diabetes, and liver function and will gain insight for both pediatric and adult patients. Cooperation and integration of all specialties treating obesity, or multidisciplinary treatment of obesity, will lead to increased value of care and improvements in the patient experience. Alignment of these specialties allows for more efficient patient care and less duplication of services. The Building Blocks of Comprehensive Obesity Care will provide an update to front-line providers on key factors, or building blocks, relating to effective treatment for obesity. During this course, participants will gain an overview of treatment options including lifestyle change, medication, and surgical management. Our expert faculty will provide best-practice treatment options and new advances in counseling patients, dietary implications, and medical weight loss as well as provide an overview of the impact of obesity on heart disease. Providers will gain an understanding of the timing for for referral to a bariatric surgeon as well as options for the management of weight recurrence after bariatric surgery.
