The Unspoken Grief of Pregnancy Loss: Where We Fall Short and How to Do Better Together
Join us for a Grief Grand Rounds session focused on pregnancy loss and grief within healthcare settings, led by Dr. Betsy Gammon, a labor and delivery clinician with extensive experience caring for families experiencing miscarriage and stillbirth. This virtual presentation will explore the commonality of pregnancy loss, the emotional and psychological impact on patients, partners, and healthcare workers, and the often unspoken experiences of self blame, disenfranchised grief, and cumulative burnout faced by clinicians and staff. Designed for healthcare professionals across disciplines, the session will create space to acknowledge a frequently overlooked form of loss and increase understanding of how pregnancy loss affects both personal well being and professional practice. The session will also include a brief overview of Duke’s updated pregnancy loss bereavement policy, followed by time for reflection and anonymous Q&A to support emotional safety and engagement.
