Pharmacogenetics and Medication Therapy Management in Community Pharmacies (March 2)

Few providers are experienced or knowledgeable about pharmacogenetics (PGx) and PGx testing. Limited knowledge and experience inhibits their ability to offer testing services to patients in a thoughtful and appropriate manner.
All participants will be enrolled in a new trial offereing pharmacogenetic testing (with or without medication therapy management) in a community pharmacy. This activity aims to prepare community pharmacists to offer PGx testing in their pharmacy within the protocol of the research study.
Learning Objectives
- Review pharmacogenetics and PGx testing technologies
- Demonstrate utilization of PGx testing and effective patient interaction
- Demonstrate use of medication therapy management in community pharmacy setting
