12th Annual Advanced EMG & EMG Guided Chemodenervation Workshop April 12th-13th
Durham, NC US
April 12, 2014 to April 13, 2014
This course is designed to introduce practicing electromyographers and those in training to advanced concepts and techniques in EMG and peripheral nerve ultrasonography and the use of EMG guidance in chemodenervation.
Learning Objectives
Review and discuss clinical assessment of patients with focal dystonias assessing muscles involved in producing the abnormal posture or unwanted movement.
Describe muscle anatomy, use of EMG identification of muscles in technically difficult areas, such as the neck, forearm, and face.
Recognize the EMG patterns associated with dystonia.
Recognize the differences in dosing & side effect profiles in the currently available botulinum toxins
Recognize muscles best suited for chemodenervation with botulinum toxin in focal dystonia.
Recognize the skills and pitfalls involved with acquiring adequate single fiber EMG signal and correlate abnormality in the clinical setting
Recognize the ultrasound characteristics of peripheral nerve in normal and abnormal nerve.
