2017 Cardiology Symposium- New Technologies

The overall goal of the activity is to enhance learners’ knowledge in the evaluation and treatment of

patient’s with complex coronary artery disease and atrial fibrillation. Symposium topics include a range of topics 1) introduction to a new device called Watchman used to prevent stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation, 2) a review of access options for patients with severe peripheral artery disease undergoing diagnostic and interventional catheterization, strategies for high risk multi-vessel PCI and a new FDA approved bioresorbable vascular scaffold.

Learning Objectives

Knowledge of how the left atrial appendage closure prevents strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation.
Identify new interventional devices, such as the bioresorbable vascular scaffold available to patients with coronary artery disease.
Review of radial access techniques for invasive procedures. 
Review current and evolving pacemaker approaches
Discuss the vascular options for transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
Review and discuss technical aspects of high risk multi-vessel percutaneous coronary intervention.
