Southeast Pediatric Cardiology Society Annual Meeting [SPCS]

Durham, NC US
September 5, 2014 to April 25, 2016
Congenital heart diseases are the most common birth defects and acquired heart disease of the young is increasing in prevalence. Over the preceding decade there have been tremendous advances in the care of children and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart diseases and the care of adults living with congenital heart diseases. Indeed the field of pediatric cardiology has often been at the forefront of critical discoveries and initiatives that have advanced medical practice. As examples, transcatheter heart valves, miniaturized ventricular assist devices, defect closure devices, stem cell therapies, genetic testing and novel drugs and biologics have all been developed or tested by individuals involved in the care of cardiovascular disease in the young. Despite these tremendous advances, numerous controversies persist regarding the acute and long term care of these patients and their conditions.
