This activity is designed to help clinicians learn how to manage patients undergoing complex surgery so they emerge faster, with less pain, nausea and vomiting; and hasten the return to functional status.

Learning Objectives
- Identify appropriate surgical frames and patient positioning for spine surgery. Interpret and facilitate intraoperative neurologic monitoring (e.g. SSEP).
- Identify lung-protective ventilation techniques, facilitated by newer anesthesia machines. Use ultrasound to provide anatomic diagnosis and to guide perioperative therapy.
- Utilize 2014 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) to risk-assess and manage outpatient patients.
