13th Annual Sickle Cell Conference
The 13th Annual Sickle Cell Disease conference is a collaboration between the Duke University School of Nursing and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Medicine Blood Research Center. The 13th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Conference will be two-day, hybrid conference that will focus on thriving with sickle cell disease across the life span. Day 1 will provide updates on SCD therapies, transition for pediatric to adult care, and providing care for older adults with SCD. These sessions will address health and psychosocial needs and provide a testimony from a person with SCD. Day 2 will focus on managing SCD, SCD advocacy in the clinical setting and community, and will include a working group to identify the clinical care, research and legislative priorities for SCD in NC. The target audience for the conference include researcher and clinicians, including hematologists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physical assistants, public health professionals, people with sickle cell disease and their families, community-based organization, students and trainees.
