2023 LEADING EDGE UROLOGY 55TH DUKE UROLOGIC ASSEMBLY & UROLOGIC CANCER SYMPOSIUM
- We have assembled an outstanding roster of national experts, participating in a comprehensive scientific program that provides cutting edge updates on the most effective and efficient diagnostic and treatment options in the sub-specialties of urology and urologic oncology.
Target Audience
- Nurses
- Nurse Practitioners
- Physicians
- Physician Assistants
Learning Objectives
• Urologic diseases present with a myriad of clinical symptoms and signs. Accurate diagnosis and disease management, which meets current standards of care, requires ongoing review of the presentations of urologic abnormalities; as well as the appropriate use of safe, cost-effective diagnostic modalities coupled with pharmacologic, minimally invasive and operative management options.
• Advancements in medical science and progress in management of urologic diseases require basic and clinical research. Presentation and discussion of such peer-reviewed summaries in conjunction with the results of investigations provide “leading edge” updates for practicing clinicians and essential feedback to researchers on the practical applications and translation of their investigations to clinical practice.
• There is a need to increase the communication and understanding of multidisciplinary care across urologic oncology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology. Improving relationships with these subspecialties provides urologists, medical and radiation oncologists with the most up-to-date data which will optimize patient care.
• There is a rapid evolution of knowledge regarding the underlying biology of advanced prostate, kidney and bladder cancer coupled with an unprecedented release of practice changing clinical trials that are not always adequately presented to the urologic oncology community. Advancements in immunotherapy for renal, prostate, and bladder cancer are revolutionizing our treatment paradigm and require continual medical education.
• Risk assessment, share decision-making, and preoperative optimization for older adults that may require surgical intervention.
• There’s an app for that: Review of apps/devices for hydration, pelvic floor/incontinence, accelerometers/step trackers.
• Optimizing Surgical Outcomes in Older Adults: Review of published evidence for effectiveness & current/ongoing clinical studies.
