2025 Duke Health & Well-Being Coach Training (March)
The purpose of the Health & Well-Being Coach Training -Blended Format is to provide participants with rigorous training in the skills, process, and partnership needed to effectively work with their clients in the realm of sustainable health behavior change. Many healthcare providers do not have training in a process to help guide patients through health behavior changes. This leaves patients without clear guidance and partnership, and many are unable to successfully implement recommended changes to improve their health. The training emphasizes gaining an understanding of core health coaching competencies. During the Core Competencies Phase of the program, participants will have opportunities to view demonstrations and participate in experiential practice with mentored feedback in order to translate their knowledge to professional practice. Duke Health & Well-Being's world-class program will teach participants how to dynamically engage individuals to make transformational health behavior changes that maximize their health and well-being. Based on research and years of clinical experience, the Health & Well-Being Coach Training - Blended Format includes two four-day modules with on-site instructor-led training, small group coaching practice, coaching demonstrations, and experiential practice with mentored feedback. After completing the on-site training, participants will complete the Advanced Application Phase, which supports participants in strengthening their skills through online coursework, coaching practice, and one-on-one mentorship. This combination provides students with hands-on experiential practice, preparing graduates to immediately utilize their skills.
