Addressing Tobacco Use During Pregnancy and Postpartum (Enduring)
This course will equip participants to care for pregnant and postpartum patients using tobacco products. It will discuss the incidence and risk factors for smoking during pregnancy, provide tips for assessment and counseling on the health harms of tobacco use for mother and baby, and discuss current evidence-based recommendations for treatment (behavioral and pharmacologic). This course will also train learners to address tobacco use and relapse during the postpartum period; including education on secondhand smoke, risk factors for relapse, and the impact of smoking on lactation. This course includes video lectures, knowledge check questions, and a patient case study scenarios.
