AHA Team Training TeamSTEPPS Essentials Course

Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS) is an evidence-based set of teamwork tools designed to optimize team function, and ultimately patient outcomes. The Essentials Course is a half-day online course with an introduction and overview to the TeamSTEPPS principles and tools utilizing activities and scenarios. This approach allows participants to learn, practice, and apply the TeamSTEPPS essentials content, and provides established resources and the skills to create training strategies, events and learning experiences.

Describe the contributing factors to medical errors and the need for improved communication and teamwork in health care.

Demonstrate an understanding of TeamSTEPPS principles and tools.

Apply TeamSTEPPS principles and tools to address identified needs within your environment.
