AHA TEAM TRAINING TEAMSTEPPS ESSENTIALS COURSE

Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS) is an evidence-based set of teamwork tools designed to optimize team function, and ultimately patient outcomes. The Essentials Course is a half-day online course with an introduction and overview to the TeamSTEPPS principles and tools utilizing activities and scenarios. This approach allows participants to learn, practice, and apply the TeamSTEPPS essentials content, and provides established resources and the skills to create training strategies, events and learning experiences.

Target Audience

1. Identify common communication and teamwork related challenges in health care

2. Learn the core TeamSTEPPS tools and how they can help to overcome these challenges

3. Practice the use of the tools in practical scenarios and simulations

4. Learn and practice how the tools can be effectively implemented in the health care setting
