ASK, ADVISE, REFER: STRATEGIES FOR TALKING TO CANCER PATIENTS ABOUT TOBACCO USE

The course is designed for nurse navigators working with oncology patients to develop effective, evidence-based strategies for discussing tobacco use with patients, and referring those patients currently using tobacco to tobacco treatment services.

2. Identify causal relationship between continued tobacco use and cancer risk recurrence and worsened cancer treatment outcomes

4. Summarize Ask, Advise, Refer model to engage patients in tobacco use treatment, including using a validated question to assess tobacco use
