CDHD 2018-2019 Fall Facilitator Development Session
The Cultural Determinants of Health and Health Disparities Course in the Duke MD Program explores cultural humility, health disparities, and the sociocultural influences on health and wellness. Small group discussions, self-reflection exercises, and case-based learning activities will be facilitated by an interprofessional group of School of Medicine faculty and clinical or research phase medical students. This development session is intended to deepen and enhance the small group facilitation skills of facilitators teaching this content and will focus on managing difficult conversations and challenges in teaching or talking about race, racism, social justice and equity.

Learning Objectives
Define and explore the role of a facilitator committed to equity.
Offer opportunities for facilitation practice and problem-solving in the service of equity.
Support participants to identify biases, conditioning, and assumptions that shape facilitation and response to facilitation
