Current Trends in Pleural Disease Management

This course is designed for pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, nurses, respiratory care practitioners, and allied health professionals who are interested in enhancing their knowledge about pleural disease management and more effective utilization of existing tools and technologies, particularly thoracic ultrasound. The lectures, interactive didactic sessions and hands-on stations will cover a range of topics including thoracic ultrasonography, tunneled pleural catheters and pleuroscopy.

Pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, trainees in pulmonary, critical care medicine, and thoracic surgery, nurses, respiratory care practitioners, and allied health professionals.

- Apply the current guidelines of management of pleural disorders.
- Use knowledge and skills to perform and interpret thoracic ultrasound.
- Practice the technique of tunneled pleural catheter placement
- Practice the technique of indwelling pleural catheter placement and patient teaching
