DIAGNOSTIC STEWARDSHIP 2023

Presented by DICON (Duke Infection Control Outreach Network) faculty, this education focuses on testing diagnostics for UTIs (urinary tract infections), blood cultures, and CDI (C. difficile infection) testing and treatment. These ideas are presented as bite-sized takeaways and applied to case studies throughout the presentation. The purpose of this format is to show how to use the tools presented.

Learning Objectives

This guide is meant to help providers accurately test and diagnose urinary tract infections(whether catheter related or not), blood stream infections (whether related to central lineusage or not), and infection with clostridium difficile. This guide is also meant to highlight the harm(s) that can result from over-testing and over-treatment.
