Duke Debates: Controversies in the Management of Hematologic Malignancies

April 13, 2018 to April 15, 2018

This annual event brings together experts in the field of Hematologic Malignancies to debate and discuss advances in treatment for these cancers, novel treatment options, nad debate current treatment paradigms. There is a mini session focusing on the needs of advanced practice providers and pharmacists, as well as a mini-symposium in the management of lung cancer.

Target Audience

Medical Oncologists, Hematologists, Radiation Oncologists, Surgical Oncologists, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Fellows, Nurses, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of patients with hematologic malignancies

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss management strategies for side effect management newly approved treatments in hematologic malignancies
  2. Discuss advances in molecular diagnostics and the evolution of personalized medicine in lung cancer
  3. Discuss emerging data and recent advances in the management of hematologic malignancies
  4. Describe diagnostic strategies for MGUS
  5. Discuss shared decision making strategies in cancer management
  6. Describe advances in molecular medicine in lung cancer
  7. Discuss advances in lung cancer therapies
  8. Discuss new avenues for the use of stem cell therapy
  9. Discuss emerging data and recent advances in the treatment of patients with Acute Leukemia, Chronic Leukemia, and Lymphoma
  10. Discuss treatment strategies for patients with multiple myeloma
  11. Identify strategies to mitigate cardio-oncologic toxicities
  12. Identify and manage effects related to immunotherapies such as CAR-T products
