DUKE INTERNAL MEDICINE UPDATE AT HILTON HEAD 2023
The practice of inpatient and outpatient medicine covers a complex and ever expanding set of medical conditions. In recent years the practice of internal medicine is being performed by a wider range of providers across multiple specialty areas. Internal medicine physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants are the front line providers who are engaging in the clinical care, teaching, research and leadership in the inpatient and outpatient setting. In an era where reimbursement is being tied to outcomes, adherence to evidence-based guidelines and best practices is essential. A variety of recent developments in the field of hospital medicine and outpatient medicine, including novel drugs, new devices, new forms of communication, new uses for older technology and changes in the process of care all necessitate ongoing efforts to improve education among clinicians. All providers must be armed with the most up-to-date evidence to help their patients make the best possible treatment decisions. Attendance at this conference should help all practicing internists and hospitalists improve their clinical outcomes by delivering evidenced based care
