FREEDOM OF THE PRESS: THE PHARMACIST'S NEW ROLE IN MANAGING HRS WITH TERLIPRESSIN

January 9, 2024 to January 11, 2024

This presentation aims to educate pharmacists at Duke Regional and Duke Raleigh Hospitals on hepatorenal syndrome (HRS), starting with a broad disease overview of terminology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation. This will be followed by an explanation of the medications used in HRS and how the various American and European guidelines recommend their use. The remainder of the presentation will focus on terlipressin, including an assessment of pertinent primary medical literature and a discussion of the pharmacists’ role in terlipressin management.
