Ft. Liberty Tobacco Use Treatment & Prevention Training for Medical Providers 2023
This training will educate Ft. Liberty healthcare provider providers about evidence-based tobacco use treatment and prevention. The training will improve providers’ skills to prevent future tobacco use and to treat patients for tobacco use. By the end of the training, participants will be able to: • Understand the North Carolina Tobacco Treatment standard of care, which includes FDA-approved pharmacotherapy and evidence-based behavioral interventions • Implement a brief intervention to assess a patient’s tobacco use and advise them to quit • Utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to assist patients to quit • Understand how to refer patients to the QuitlineNC and DoD Quitline You Can Quit 2
