Health Disparities Research Curriculum (HDRC) Sessions: 2018-2019
HDRC is designed to increase knowledge and skill in the evaluation, design, and conduct of health disparities research. The curriculum consists of monthly sessions which combine didactics and student activities addressing: • Nomenclature of health disparities • Contributors to health disparities • Role of implicit bias in disparities research • Review and critique of health disparities research across the translational spectrum • Issues in the design and conduct of health disparities research

Learning Objectives
Define your own racial/ethnic background and describe the relationship between racial and cultural attitudes and quality of care.
Describe the prevalence, causes, and severity of health disparities among racial and ethnic minorities.
Describe and apply skills to combat racial, ethnic, and cultural barriers to effective health care.
Cite, interpret, and critique existing health disparities research across the translational spectrum to inform practice, and identify gaps that need to be addressed in future research efforts
Discuss and apply skills for incorporating health disparities research into research agendas.
