NC DAC Fall Meeting New Diabetes Medications and Diabetes Poster Session 2025
The Diabetes Advisory Council (DAC) of North Carolina was created in 1984 as an advisory group to the Diabetes Prevention and Control program. It is comprised of physicians, diabetes care and education specialists, registered dieticians, pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, health educators, exercise physiologists. The DAC works to reduce the burden of diabetes through coordination among the many collaborators in diabetes control in North Carolina. Core responsibilities are to 1) educate about benefits of early detection, treatment and self-management training for diabetes control, as a health priority for all North Carolinians; 2) review and educate members, the public, health care providers, and lawmakers about scientific evidence regarding clinical, epidemiological, and technology advances in diabetes care, 3) Evaluate, present and propose strategies for the control of diabetes in North Carolina in terms of assessed need, estimated costs, potential benefits and probability of success of each strategy. On Friday October 3rd, we will have UNC Professor of Medicine Dr John Buse present on new diabetes medications soon to be available or in the research pipeline. We will also have a poster session.
