ForwardNCONL NURSE MENTORING PROGRAM
The NCONL Nurse Leader Mentorship Training is a live educational activity designed to introduce nurse leaders to the principles, value, and practical application of mentorship in nursing leadership. The course builds on the identified need for nurse leaders to develop themselves in order to effectively serve as mentors for new and emerging leaders, with emphasis on mentoring as an important but often overlooked component of leadership development. Participants will explore the mentor role, the mentee experience, relationship-building strategies, and approaches for creating meaningful professional development partnership

Learning Objectives
- Describe the role and value of mentorship in developing current and future nurse leaders. Identify key characteristics and responsibilities of effective mentors and mentees that contribute to successful mentoring relationships.
- Apply communication strategies, including active listening, relationship-building, and professional dialogue, to strengthen mentor-mentee interactions.
- Discuss best practices that support professional development, career planning, and leadership growth within a mentoring relationship.
- Examine strategies used by experienced nurse leaders to overcome common mentoring challenges and foster successful mentorship outcomes.
- Utilize mentorship as a tool to support leadership competency development, succession planning, and the advancement of emerging nurse leaders.
- Develop an action plan for engaging in a meaningful mentoring relationship that supports individual leadership goals and professional growth.
