Palliative Care is a young, yet rapidly growing field that focuses on improving patient/family quality of life. It is appropriate from the time of diagnosis of a serious illness and can be provided alongside curative/life-prolonging therapies. It has been shown to improve quality of care and reduce health related costs in multiple studies Duke Palliative Care has significant resources and expertise to help support growth of Palliative Care at all Duke LifePoint institutions
