IBHC Sustainment Training: March 2015

Date/Time:  March 3, 2015  2-3:30 p.m. (EST)

Physical and mental well-being has a significant association with the quality of intimate partner relationships.  Individuals in distressed relationships report not only higher levels of mental health symptoms, but also poorer physical health.  An integrated approach to health care includes attention to both physical health and also social, emotional and behavioral components, including the health of couples’ relationships.  Internal Behavioral Health Consultants (IBHCs) can play an important role in assisting the primary care (PC) team with effective assessment and intervention in the PC setting with couples experiencing relationship distress.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Describe how to use the 5 A's approach to effectively address couple distress in PC settings
  • Select evidence-based assessment approaches for couple distress that are appropriate for PC settings
  • Explain how to adapt and implement five evidence-based interventions for couple distress in PC settings
