Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT) for Speech-Language Pathologists

Duke speech pathologists provide respiratory muscle training, also known as RMT, to strengthen breathing muscles to patients with diverse medical conditions. This will be an interactive course building on current research and clinical practice. The course will focus on: • anatomy and physiology • assessment • treatment • case studies • hands on practice • a panel question and answer session.
Target Audience
Speech-Language Pathologists who would like to incorporate RMT into clinical practice
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Identify salient entries in the medical record that reveal function and dysfunction
- Identify decision making junctions (during the history taking session) that trigger additional questions and warrant specific actions
