Safety Culture Eats Strategy for Lunch: A Scientific and Human Approach to Building Safety Culture
November 2, 2023
Duke Health Integrated Practice has experienced exponential change related to external and internal factors over the last two years. Research suggests that heightened levels of stress in healthcare can manifest in increased rates of error, impacting patient safety. The impact of stress, strain and change on team members has led us on a journey to partner with the frontline leaders of those teams and equip them with enhanced tools, additional training and support, as well as encourage a psychologically safe environment for communication to occur in. The impact of those effects was measured through relevant data or outcomes such as culture survey results.
