Stress First Aid Booster Training - 6/6/2024

The Stress First Aid Booster sessions are designed for those learners who have already taken the 4-hour initial Stress First Aid peer support training and would like an opportunity to APPLY and practice the SFA model. These virtual 1-hour Booster sessions are held each month. Participants are welcome to attend any one of them – or more than one. The case studies are applicable to all health care professionals. During these sessions, we will reinforce the SFA principles: (Stress Continuum Model, Four Sources of Orange-Zone Stress, and the SFA model) and then practice using case exemplars from varied settings.

Learning Objectives
- Discuss how peer support informs Stress First Aid application
- Use the stress continuum to operationalize Stress First Aid assessment and intervention
- Interrelate the stress continuum and the 4 sources of orange zone to the Stress First Aid model
- Recognize science and theoretical frameworks to conceptualize stress, stress appraisal, and stress injury
- Discuss the application of resilience science in relation to occupational stress
- Identify caregiver self-assessment and signs of caregiver burnout
- Evaluate and practice various methods of cultivating well-being, mental health promotion and mental illness prevention methods used to improve occupational stress among individuals and groups
- Outline the fundamentals of continuous aid within the Stress First Aid Peer Support model
- Outline the fundamentals of primary aid within the Stress First Aid Peer Support model
- Outline the fundamentals of secondary aid within the Stress First Aid Peer Support model
- Apply stress first aid peer support strategies through case study application
