Supporting Individuals Grieving the Death of a Child, Parent, or Life Partner/Spouse

- This continuing education presentation is intended to help therapists explore the unique experiences and challenges to better support individuals grieving the death of a child, parent, spouse, or life partner, and to strengthen community expertise in grief counseling. Participants will examine common emotional, cognitive, physical, social, and spiritual responses to loss while gaining an understanding of how grief may differ based on the relationship to the deceased.

Learning Objectives
- Identifying common emotional, cognitive, physical, behavioral, and spiritual responses associated with the death of a child, parent, or life partner/spouse.
- Applying at least three evidence-informed interventions to support individuals grieving significant relationship losses.
- Identifying potential risk and protective factors that may affect adaptation following bereavement.
