TeamSTEPPS Master Training Course - August 13 - 14, 2018

TeamSTEPPS Master Training Course is a 2-day, live course. Participants will experience and learn the TeamSTEPPS fundamentals, as well as the skills required to train and coach their own staff.


 

The TeamSTEPPS Master Training Course is a highly-interactive course and content is based on a framework of four teachable-learnable core teamwork skills: Communication, Leadership, Situation Monitoring and Mutual Support.


 

By the end of this TeamSTEPPS Master Training Course, all participants will become TeamSTEPPS Master Trainers, who are knowledgeable regarding TeamSTEPPS and the application of the tools and staregies they can use to improve patient safety and the delivery of safe and efficient care within their unit, division or department.


 

TeamSTEPPS Master Trainers will be able to perform site assessments; determine performance gaps; pitch the need for TeamSTEPPS to their leadership; and coordinate and facilitate the implementation of TeamSTEPPS within their respective organizations.



Who Should Register: There are no requirements in order to attend this pre-conference session. While anyone with a desire to understand the relationship between team dynamics and patient safety is welcome, this is an intermediate level course and participants should have basic working knowledge of TeamSTEPPS tools and concepts. This workshop is particularly suited for those who wish to improve their knowledge and application of TeamSTEPPS tools in resolving conflict that is threatening the team dynamic.

Target Audience

Interdisciplinary team members (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, allied health professionals, non-clinical and administrative professionals, etc.) who already have good understanding of TeamSTEPPS tools and skills.  

All target audience members are eligible to receive continuing education credit (Joint Accreditation (JA) credit hours, upon successful completion of the learning activity, and end-of-activity evaluation.  No certificates of attendance are awarded for this course.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Identify foundational characteristics of high performing teams.
  • Utilize TeamSTEPPS leadership and communication tools to address conflict.
  • Discuss key strategies for intentionally empowering the next generation leaders.
