Participants in the Duke Intraoperative TEE Preceptorship spend one three-day session in the cardiac operating suites, observing techniques of intraoperative TEE and interpretation of images. Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this preceptorship, the learner should be better able to:
- Perform a comprehensive TEE exam. Assess global cardiac function and identify valvular pathology.
- Demonstrate the appropriate use of various imaging modalities including three-dimensional echocardiography.
- Apply echocardiographic information to enhance surgical decision-making and perioperative clinical management of the cardiac surgical patient.
