Trauma-Informed Hospice Care

This presentation will help hospice clinicians to understand trauma and its effects on patients and families at end of life. It will focus on how the hospice team can best support patients and families who have experienced trauma and provide care that creates emotional safety and reduces further harm. It will also discuss trauma's effect on clinicians and teach strategies and grounding techniques to help cope.

Defining trauma and describe at least three ways it impacts hospice patients and families

Identifying at least three principles of trauma-informed care

Demonstrating at least two grounding techniques to reduce emotional distress. 

Applying at least two trauma-informed interventions during patient care

Identifying at least three signs of trauma-related distress
