  • Identify a brief history of autologous blood transfusion
  • Describe in basic terms how intraoperative cell salvage works
  • Identify some common indications and contraindications for cell salvage therapy
  • Recognize areas of controversy surrounding cell salvage usage
  • Discuss the economics of intraoperative cell salvage
