Leading Edge Urology: 48th Duke Urologic Assembly and Duke Urologic Cancer Symposium

The tremendous growth in the screening, detection, risk-stratification and management of urologic diseases and cancers is constantly changing the specialty of urology.  As a result imporements in the imaging and treatment of these conditions generate a great need for knowledge and up-to-date information for providers and health care professionals.  Emphasis will be placed on diagnostic evaluation, thereapeutic options, management of complication, and the use of new technologies that provide leading edge care to patients.

 

Learning Objectives

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate and outline management options for the patient with various urologic conditions.
  • Apply effective and efficient diagnoses and treatments in the sub-specialties of urology and urologic oncology.
  • Analyze new technologies and therapies to provide the utmost, least invasive care to patients.
  • Establish an effective algorithm for the medical management of nephrolithiasis.
  • Discuss the multi-dimensional underpinnigs of cancer health disparities, and the importance of research to improve prevention, detection, and access to care.
  • Identify potential risks for post-operative sepsis following endourologic procedures.
  • Identify demographic, clinical and pathologic factors associated with suicide for malignancy.
  • Gain greater proficiency in correct coding and identify ways to avoid claim denials and loss of revenue.
  • Examine the evidence of efficacy and safety for recently approved systemic agents for urologic malignancies.
  • Identify the best evidence supporting the use of imaging for patients.
