Learning Objectives
- Describe the primary mechanism of lower extremity neurologic injury after childbirth.
- Discuss the effects of early labor initiation of neuraxial analgesia on the progress of labor.
- Recognize adverse effects of oxytocin and propose evidence-based dosing strategies.
- Identify a rational plan of fluid and vasopressor administration to prevent spinal anesthesia-induced hypotension.
