As a result of attending this session attendees will describe goals of inpatient cognitive communication therapy, review the components of a skilled communication partner, identify and practice statements and phrases that are intended to increase collaboration during a conversation with a person with cognitive-communication deficits, discuss potential practice changes in cognitive communication therapy through development of smart phrases and other methods, and discuss SLP's role in cognitive communication therapy beyond the acute care stay.
