As health professionals, anesthesiologists need to participate in continuing medical education activities to remain abreast of important developments in research and practice. Grand Rounds provides an internal, departmental educational opportunity for providers to obtain the knowledge needed to perform their duties at a high level of proficiency.
The specific aims of this educational opportunity are to:
- Educate anesthesiologists about advances in anesthesiology practice
- Educate anesthesiologists about advances in research in the field of anesthesiology

In support of improving patient care, the Duke University Health System Department of Clinical Education and Professional Development is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), to provide continuing education for the health care team.
