Walmart HIV Education Series - Advanced Topics

  • The purpose of this training is to leverage the accessibility of community pharmacists and other healthcare associates, equipping them with high-quality education and training to provide context-appropriate care relevant to HIV treatment and prevention.
  • The program provides knowledge, skills, and CE/CME credit to participants that will empower them to effectively care for people with HIV and those who may or are seeking preventive HIV services.
  • The training program includes 5 advanced modules which are appropriate for all Walmart associates.  Completing all 5 earns 1 hour of CE credit.
    • Module 6: HIV incidence in priority populations: Epidemiology and considerations for providing HIV preventative care
    • Module 7: Clinical prompts for PrEP
    • Module 8: How to manage PrEP
    • Module 9: Paying for PrEP
    • Module 10: HIV risk reduction
  • This is the second of two courses in the Walmart HIV Education Series, which also includes a core topics course.  The advanced modules in this course build on the topics  covered in the core modules.
  • Prerequisite: Walmart HIV Education Series – Core Topics
  • We recommend the modules be completed on a PC or laptop, as completing the modules on a mobile device may not deliver full functionality and user experience.

Learning Objectives

  • Increase knowledge regarding the treatment and prevention of HIV for pharmacists, clinicians, and support staff who provide care across pharmacies.
  • Enhance self-efficacy/confidence of health and wellness associates to provide counseling and/or referral for treatment or prevention of HIV across pharmacies and health clinics.
  • Increase pharmacy and health clinic attitudes and reduction of bias among participants toward people seeking preventive care and those living with HIV.
